Lord and Lady have their keepers working from home most of the time.
Both cats and keepers know working in different projects in different and unrelated topics, with study sites across three continents is too extreme.
Even 4 WDs get stuck in the sand sometimes…
But Lady Delamere is always around ready to rescue her keepers. She has 19 months digging experience (in her litter box but it counts, especially since she thinks that many things related to international development are bullshit anyway, so her litter box is the most appropriate place to keep them).
She found a red back spider yesterday. We had a great sport making the spider a targeted beneficiary of a dose of insecticide. The impacts on flying insect biodiversity are going to be assessed but the outcomes of the intervention are clearly positive since members of the household are changing their behaviour and able to walk into the patio again. The cat as facilitator of the process got a reward of special food and the donor is happy to justify the expenditure of one $8.80 insecticide spray for the eradication of a single spider rather than promoting the use of more sustainable but risky options such a folded newspaper to achieve the desired killing objective…

Timor Leste
Dear friends:
Yesterday Jose Ramos Horta, the president of Timor Leste was in an event in Canberra. He talked about the positive impact of cash transfers among the poor in Timor Leste.
Naty was in Timor few weeks ago and yesterday she was in the audience. She even had a chat with the president about the cash transfer program and her recent mission in that country, and as a way to say good bye the president said to her "See you in Timor"!!
We are very proud of you!! Well done Naty!!!! People like you are making this world a better place to live in!!!
And following her example we small kittens wanted to make evident our support for a free Tibet and as a sign of protest we broke a vase with flowers. Free Tibet, Free flowers we said!!
We should say now: sorry Naty. We will not do it again. First because we learned our lesson and second because the vase is already broken and we can not break it twice :)
More soon...We will promise to make a post about our adventures at the golf course.

Sofia Mulanovich y Sofia MIAUlanovich
Lady Delamere on a surfboard. This little kitten a.ka. Sofia Miaulanovich is the first female cat willing to participate in the pro circuit.
The peruvian surfer and former world champion Sofia Mulanovich is an inspiration for the emergent feline star.
In a recent press release, Lady Delamere expressed her concern about the lack of opportunities for female cats around the world. "we do not hate water" she said. "we are just lacking opportunities and training facilities" She finally highlighted the point that "The urban myth of cats and water is still deeply rooted in the society, but things are changing ".
Meawlabong and Miauksilver are planning to provide sponsorships for this talented cat surfer.

Watusi or Catusi Tribe
Lady Delamere combining Western technology and African tribal art
Dear Friends: As you could see, we are healthy againg and gaining weight. Just compare us with the size of a laptop.
Today we got access to the studio with the African Antiques (we are running faster). Photos attached.
We are big kitten now, so we call ourselves The Catuzi (a named derived from the Watusi Tribe famous for their height) (Gatusi in Spanish)
We would like to thank Murat for feeding us and give us the required antibiotics while Luis was in Queensland and Naty in Fiji.
We would also thank: our vets i.e. Winston, Amy, Siobahn and Maggie.
Pfizer Labs and its product Flagyl, and pet food manufacturers Royal Canin and Hill

At home and carbon footprint
We are at home again. We were released from the hospital with an antibiotic treatment.
We lost weight and the vets are worried, so we will eat special food imported from Europe. Do you imagine the carbon footprint of that food? Can you count all the carbon emissions and energy wasted in cropping grain to feed european chicken, kill the chickens, cook them, put them in small sachets, put the sachets in boxes, transport the boxes to the port by rail or road, put the boxes in a boat, ship the boat to Australia, unload the boat, put the boxes in a truck, drive the truck to Canberra and then store the boxes at the vet hospital in order to give kittens like us a chance to survive a diarrhea?
Big Question: Is more energy in the food inside the sachet than the energy invested in process, pack, transport and deliver the sachets?
It seems vets committment to save the world starts by saving us!! And Luis and Naty could not agree more with that position!!

Pal' Gato
Dear friends: We are blogging from the Canberra Veterinary Hospital.
We are not feeling fine and a more aggresive treatment is being received. We will sleep here tonight.
Today seems to be a bad day for the cats and other felines. We are at the hospital and Tiger Wood is playing badly, scoring 2 over par at Qualil Hollow Championship. We will be fine tomorrow, but he seems to be ready to receive sponsorships from cat food companies "esta pal' gato el tigre".
We had the chance to read an article about cat behaviour. It is so simple, that you can almost read things like: " From 10 people who love cats, 5 are... 50%". It should be a novelty if 5 out of 10 are 60%, but in that case it will be unpublishable even at the internet.
More soon.

Last week
Dear Friends: We have had an interesting week. We moved to the suburb of Watson last Friday after several days at Pet's Paradise in Civic.
There was a long weekend in Australia because of the ANZAC day.
On Sunday we were introduced to some members of the diplomatic service of two European nations posted in Australia. Wine and cheese were provided while the Gallipolli campaign and the roots of the Armenian conflict were discussed. Cheese was a temptation but we are still eating only kitten food! We have not signed any sponsorhip agreement with the pet food company of the link but we are open to hear reasonable proposals.
We visited the Canberra Veterinary Hospital on tuesday for the microchip and a veterinary control. Lord Delamere is having some vet problems and is currently under medication.
Luis and Naty went to see the Big Merino in Goulburn during the weekend, we still do not get why there is not a Big Cat in Australia yet! We will fill a petition to the Commonwealth Goverment, any supporters? And we don't agree the giant feral cat is a myth!
We woke up very early on thursday to watch the game between Barcelona and Inter. If you hate the coach Jose Mourinho then you are not alone.

There is an interesting post at the blog of William Easterly aidwatchers about 1 million shirts. Giving cash is better than giving stuff but in some areas in kind aid is preferred by beneficiaries.
If you are interested in in kind donations, then you would like to read what are the most useful ones. But you can also donate money through many organizations and tell your mom that her mother's day gift is being invested to help poor families send their children to school or help them learn skills to start and sustain their own businesses.
